OUR YOUTH OUR FUTURE
Usma Nuučaan̓uł Family and Child Services
Created by Nuučaan̓uł leadership, Usma became British Columbia’s first Indigenous Family and Child Services Agency in 1988. Today, more than 70 employees provide Nuučaan̓uł-led services that help children remain connected to their families, communities, and culture. Approximately 80% of Usma caregiving homes are Nuučaan̓uł, reflecting the shared commitment of Elders, caregivers, families, staff, leadership, and the Nuučaan̓uł Tribal Council.
Usma means “precious one”—reflecting the value of our children, our Elders, and everything in life.
