Community Health Promotion
The goal of the Health Program is to strengthen the links between people that results in an increased capacity within communities to work towards common goals- to make their communities healthy.
An approach to support health and well-being that can integrate with and complement health service delivery.
We are committed to educating community members on basic understanding of healthy lifestyle choices.
With this gained knowledge, skills, attitudes, and changed-behavior necessary to contribute to their personal development and the improvement of the total family diet and nutritional well-being.
The Food choices, lifestyles and environment affect the health of the Nuu-chah-nulth People.
It is important to be aware that the foods you choose to eat contribute to either disease prevention, or chronic disease and premature death.
Our Community Health Promotion Worker offers information sessions on wide variety of health, disease, and nutrition topics to help Nuu-chah-nulth individuals, families and communities understand and make healthy choices.
Individuals can also work one-on-one to develop an Individual Wellness Plan to help manage a chronic health issue, meet specific goals, or just get and stay healthy!
